Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Worse

Woke up this morning and browsed my Facebook as usual. Was shocked to see this! Source.

English version. Source.

Not translated was the most epic part. If someone opens a FB page, blog or writes an article and then signs off using your name, nickname or photo, it is assumed that you wrote it.

Googling about and found mentions of it on page 14 here :

Also, if you read the conversation on page 16,

Datuk Bung Moktar bin Radin [Kinabatangan]: Macam Yang Berhormat Batu, kalau Yang Berhormat Ipoh Barat menggunakan nama samaran, bermakna dia pondan!

Tuan M. Kulasegaran [Ipoh Barat]: Che Det, Tun Mahathir menggunakan, okey, boleh?

Tuan Nga Kor Ming [Taiping]: Itu Tun Mahathir.

Hilarious.. This is the kind of conversation going on in our parliament meeting. Basically, Kinabatangan dude says the act should not allow anyone to use a nickname because it is cowardly. It is gay (what is he implying here). Other people are saying our ex Prime Minister (Tun Mahathir) used a nickname too so would Kinabatangan guy tell him not to use it? Is he saying our ex prime minister is also gay? But later it is refuted that Tun Mahathir is using a pen name which is not the same as nickname.

Anyway, back to the topic. It is obviously a big opportunity for people to misuse it. I already see tonnes of people talking about creating FB pages of our Prime Minister to post rubbish or comment on his FB pages (which I doubt were created by him in the first place) but according to this new act, he must be responsible for everything they say!

Will this also apply to pages/blogs by foreigners? What if I condemn my country on Justin Bieber's FB page? Will the gov ban him from coming here?

If I write someone's will online and sign off with his name, can I take all his property? Assuming he has not contacted a lawyer to make a real will, that is.

Can I announce myself as the winner of a contest by simply commenting on their website? Wow that would be convenient.

If you're going to comment here, please don't call my country stupid or insult the gov or you might see me in jail next week. I don't think they allow makeup/blogging in there =(

  1. What if I condemn my country on Justin Bieber's FB page? Will the gov ban him from coming here? <--- AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAA.. never thought of that!
So if people were to saying things to condemn our country etc in Najib's FB, then what? Will Najib go to jail or receive a warning?

I'm not going to say too much in case I accidentally get you in trouble but i do not agree that we should take responsibility for someone else's words/ comments.
