Elf Clarifying Pressed Powder

I've been using BB creams for quite some time before this. But since I have oily skin, I'm supposed to wear powder foundation so I decided to grab one from elf's $1 line.

I didn't know what to compare it with to show you the size then I thought since the Hada Labo lotion is all the raves right now, a lot of you would have it or have seen it so yeah.. lol

My first one was in light beige, which has a yellow undertone (the 1st and 2nd photos are a little too pink). As usual, pics on website were inaccurate and it was a little too dark for me. Later on, I got another one in Rosy Beige. This had more pink in it but was also too dark for me. I'm not sure if it was actually too dark for me or the matte look made me look darker.

This is very matte. So matte, it can make your face look flat. Hence, I don't use this on my face. Maybe just areas I want matte and where the 'flatness' is less noticeable, like my nose and the middle of my forehead. I also use it on red blemishes if I don't want to use concealer. Since this has quite a good coverage, I mostly use it for my panda eyes. When I use my usual liquid concealer, my fine lines will show really bad after dabbing it on.

Here's me without anything on my face (sorry I look like shit. Was exhausted and just woke up) :

And in this photo, I used the Elf Clarifying Pressed Powder in Light Beige on one side :

Gee.. My eyebrows look so imbalanced here

Close up
Panda eye is not so dark (the other eye was originally puffier), pimple scars are less obvious and face is not so oily. However, you can also see that it totally took away the glow in my cheeks and my face is left rather dull and flat. Definitely need blusher with this one. Come to think of it, this is actually wearable for the whole face if you put on a thin layer and use other stuff to brighten up your face.

The applicator that came with it is not amazing but its small enough to fit inside and it works. After a few uses, it started coming apart so I have to be gentle with it. Sometimes, it would also stick out and I can't close the cover properly.

Another thing is, this does not have a mirror :( The main reason I bring my foundation with me everywhere is so that I can check my make up or apply stuff on my lip or check my hair without going to the washroom.

The container was kinda flimsy. The cover became loose after a few uses. You can still close it but it won't 'stand' when open. The wordings on the cover have also faded although I have barely used the Light Beige.

Product says : Treat and prevent skin imperfections. Proven skin clarifiers absorb oil on contact.

My conclusion : Will consider repurchasing once I finish these 2 and the backup if the other colours look more appealing on me. Time to Google for images!

  5. Yup.. It's been a big hit among the girls. I think it changed my skin but now it's not moisturizing enough anymore. I've moved on to another product.
