Elf High Definition Powder

"Creates a soft focus effect on your face". Now, who wouldn't want that? But what exactly is soft focus? The blurry effect you see on models in magazines that makes them look so flawless? I'm not sure. But it does sound good! Lol so I got a jar of it just to feed my curiousity.

It's in a black cube-like container and you twist the cap to open. Inside, there's a puff which keeps the powder from falling out. It's also good for holding the powder as the powder is very fine and light. Don't sneeze! You'll have white powder all over the floor.

Instructions on the Elf website says :
The microfine particles are designed to be used with high-definition camera technology or for everyday wear. Apply powder all over the face for a professional and youthful look of perfection.

Now, this is how I use mine. This is not like a loose powder or mineral foundation that you tap onto the cap and the excess can be poured back in. Because the HD powder is so fine, it will get very very messy that way. I simply hold the puff in the case and turn it upside down.

When you remove the puff, the HD powder will be sticking on it. You can then use it directly from the puff or like me, use a brush so the puff doesn't get dirty and you don't overapply.

Powder is white and WILL look ashy or give a white cast if you apply too much. So make sure to use appropriate amounts and blend well.

I always wear enough moisturizer before this or risk getting flaky skin. This is no miracle powder but I think it does help control the oil a bit. It can be worn beneath makeup or above makeup as a finishing powder.

Also, if I already have makeup on and I'm planning to go out again at night without redoing my makeup, I just puff this all over my face and it makes my makeup look fresh again. It doesn't cake so it's a good alternative to touching up with more foundation or loose powder. The only thing stopping me from bringing this out is the big size!

Left : This is me after a few hours of wearing my makeup. I had to go out immediately after I got back. Face looked oily even after blotting, dull and lifeless.
Right : After HD powder. Overall complexion brightened and makeup appears fresher. Shine is removed. If I had used liquid foundation, it would have been badly oxidized after a few hours so I don't mind using more HD powder to lighten the colour.

Product says : The high definition loose powder creates a "soft focus" effect to the skin. Masks fine lines and imperfections for a radiant complexion. The incredibly soft and invisible powder is great for on-screen and everyday wear.
Ingredients : Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica.
Size : 3.5 oz
Price : RM 20 (I think?) / $6
Bought from : Lowyat.NET
Made in China

Pros : Slight oil control, good for touch ups, cheap
Cons : Bulky, leaves white cast if overapplied
My conclusion : Will repurchase when I run out! There are other brands offering a similar powder but it's much pricier. I just love how it can 'revive' my makeup in under 3 minutes!
