Free Online Shop with Shopify

A very long time ago, I had a blogshop to sell clothes. It was the in thing back then la. Everyone was doing blogshops but the business slowly died down as everyone was getting stocks from the same place and it got boring. Then people moved to Facebook shops instead but honestly, it just looks really unprofessional and there's always that..

"PM me for price"
"got stock?"
"what size?"
"who banked in RM 55 into my account??"

SO ANNOYING!

If you take your shop seriously, I suggest you to setup a proper one. It will make your life so much easier.

Shopify
offers the service to help you start your online store

Free Trial
There is a 14-day free trial so anyone can try it out for 2 weeks without having to commit any form of payment.

Customized Layout
One of the most important points is HOW your shop looks. Here at Shopify, you can fully customize it with various options but I was lazy so I just chose a free theme from the Theme Store =x

Easy Product Management
To add products, you just need to fill in the details like name, description, code, labels etc. but they have extra options to define stock quantity, have different colour options, customize URLs, schedule publish dates or even add to collections.

Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Doesn't that sound nice? xD

This is how it should look like.

Discount Codes
You can also make various discount codes. I love how there are so many options to control the discount. I've previously used another platform similar to Shopify and it only had 2 options. - Discount or Free Shipping.

Mobile & SEO Friendly
Not bad la.. Took an hour to sign up, setup store and understand the concept. This layout is for a computer but if you open it on a mobile or tablet, it will adjust itself to fit because Shopify has mobile responsive themes. If you noticed, my layout also directs to my Facebook page, Twitter & Instagram. Shopify is designed in a way to be SEO friendly to direct more traffic to your store as well.

More Payment Methods
I think one of the best parts is that the payment transaction can be automated so there will be less disputes and scams. Shopify has also integrated with iPay88 in Malaysia that allows credit cards and bank transfer to be done. Once they've paid, the system will update the status automatically. Just sit back and relax. Shopify will be everything you need to sell online.

Shopping Cart
Then of course, there's the cart, which Facebook pages and blogshops do not have. With a shopping cart, it is more organized and customers can buy items together instead of commenting on individual photos. However, if you would really like to keep your Facebook store, then no worries. Shopify can also be integrated with your Facebook store to allow people who are browsing through your Facebook page to be directed to your Shopify store to add products and make payment. Simply install this free app ‘The Facebook Store’ https://apps.shopify.com/facebook-store and you will then be able to enjoy the best of Facebook and Shopify!

24/7 Support Team
If you encounter any problems with your e-store, don't worry as their international support team is available 24/7!

  3. I actually have an online store (facebook page) but without a proper website. I'm researching to build one now though because I've come to realize that it will be more convenient for both customers' shopping experience and for me dealing with back end works.
I am selling imported Korea and Taiwan cosmetics and beauty products at facebook.com/skincandy.co and would really love to try out shopify as a decent/ proper online shop.

  4. i just set up an online store, Ann Papeterie on Facebook this month. and i know having a website would definitely make it looks more professional. as customers will shop at ease and i don't have to keep pm-ing customers for status, and i know Shopify can do more than that!

for now, Ann Papeterie (https://www.facebook.com/annpapeterie?ref=hl) focuses on masking tapes (or washi tapes) and stickers. and i plan to bring in more fun yet practical stationery from Taiwan, Japan and Korean in the near future :)

so pweatty please i would love to try out shopify!

  5. Oh I would love to set up an online store to be able to be a entrepreneur making money and delivering goods and services from the comfort of my own home! And even though facebook is a great platform to leverage on, I think it's very important to have a good web interface, so it makes things easier for customers to navigate the pages, and look professional. A-class customers deserves A-class services, right? :P

I would sell the service of planning surprises! I would give my customers a set of questionnaire to determine the things liked or not liked by the person they want to surprise, and plan accordingly. It will include making personalized gifts and reservations to restaurants etc. And if it's for couples, this would make Valentine's day special for both of them! Plus, it's really customized and personalized so we're flexible in planning. (:
