Waist-high Slit Maxi Dresses - Yay or Nay?

I stumbled upon these maxi dresses from 2 different blogshops. They're long with this super high slit that reaches your waist or hips. At first it looked kinda sexy and special.

That was until I realised that it resembled Ip Man's outfit LOL cannot be unseen.. What do you think? Is this style nice?
