Revlon Colourburst Lipstick (Soft Nude)

It's heeerrreee!! After a week of waiting, it's finally here.. My beloved lipstick.. *smooches* Got this online because I'm too stingy to pay the full price at 'drugstores' and also the Guardian's + Watson's nearby my place doesn't even have a Revlon counter *curses*

Ok if you don't understand what am I drawing there, it's actually an angel >.<

I know I'm slow.. But at least I got it! This is the Revlon Colourburst Lipstick in 070 Soft Nude. I chose this colour because I'm currently looking for my perfect nude. (I usually stick to pinks/corals to avoid looking sickly) I've previously only tried NYX ones as they're cheap and good to experiment with. The ones I've tried are Circe, Honey, Pumpkin Pie & Orange Soda. They were ALL ugly on me. And if you've read my previous posts, I also tried the Elf All Over Cover Stick =/

The packaging is so nice.. The quilted design reminds me of the Chanel bag that everyone was raving about some time back. There's a coloured square above which indicates the colour of the lipstick.

Since there are already so many swatches on the arm, I won't be showing any. Instead, I have some on-lip swatches.

Fresh from this morning. My lips were a little dry today.

I expected this to be really NUDE nude but instead, it was more of a soft pink, which I think is okay, because the really nude ones make me look sickly. It's really creamy and easy to apply. Upon application, I immediately regretted not putting on lip balm beforehand. Why? As you can see in the photo above, the lipstick on my upper lip was so patchy and dry! I'll explain more with the following photos.

You know the part where the 'border' of your lips are? (Please refer to diagram) There was this super ugly wrinkled line there >.< That line usually only appears on me after hours of wearing lipstick and it's not that bad. It's normally just moist dead skin which I can scrape away with a tissue paper.

It sank into every single line on my lips. Believe me, it's much worse in real life! I think you can see it better in the photo below.

This is after about 5-10 minutes. Surprisingly, it's not that bad anymore. My lips aren't that wrinkled, patchy spots are gone and it's shiny. However, it still sank into the lip lines.

I couldn't stand it so I removed it. Later in the day, I exfoliated my lips, smothered them in lip balm and applied again. As I wasn't feeling well by then, my lips were much much paler and it now looks more nude (also under different lighting but I've Photoshopped it a little). Everything bad is gone except the lip lines!! I hate those..

Despite all the horrible things I've said, it actually doesn't look that bad further away. No full faced pics because as I have mentioned, I wasn't feeling well and looked like shit.

I actually really like the colour on my lips. Most of my lipsticks are darker and I've been wanting a lighter coloured lipstick for a really long time. And look at that shine! It's so pretty <3

Random : My lips are now the same colour as my tongue! lol

I'm not the only one who got a new toy today =) Little Putih got a cow that squeaks. He managed to spoil the previous 5 squeaky toys =.= And once they don't squeak anymore, he barely plays with them.

Price : RM 39
Pros : Creamy, shiny, nice packaging, beautiful colour
Cons : Sinks into lines, patchy, pricey
My conclusion : I'm absolutely loving this! Would wear this when my eye makeup is dark (it usually is). However, I must must MUST remember to bring a lipbalm if I plan to reapply. Most probably will not buy the other colours as they don't look like the type I would wear.
Wish me luck on finding my true nude!

  4. Haha.. Just like red lipsticks, you need to find the right shade and undertone for yourself
