A BF Who Delivers You Food

Me and rain just don't go well together. Every time I want to go to or leave Taylor's, it RAINS. Doesn't matter if its 8am, 10am or 2pm. It rains.

Yesterday I went for lunch in SS 2 around noon. Clear skies.. it has only been raining at 3pm, no problem. And guess what?!?! It rained =_=

Girl in rain

Last night I wanted dinner. But it was raining cats and dogs. Confirm jam also. Then I recalled one of those Tumblr pics where a guy messages his GF to tell her that he's outside her house with food.

"I'm hungry"
"I'll be over in an hour with food."

My kind of romance. Totally. So I picked up my phone and in an hour, #boyfriendDanny was outside my house with 2 large bags of food. OMG! He braced the rain just to bring me food.

Foodpanda delivery guy

Thanks #boyfriendDanny.. The food was still warm & good. Really good. And nothing spilled.

Foodpanda delivery from Brussel's Beer Cafe

Guess what? This 'boyfriend to bring me food on rainy days' service can be bought! Just download the FoodPanda app on your mobile or you can access the website at www.foodpanda.my.

FoodPanda mobile application nearby restaurants

Once you enter your location, you will be able to view the restaurants near you which can deliver to you via FoodPanda. Pick whatever you want to eat and choose either delivery or pick-up from the shop.

You might ask - "Who so stupid will choose pick-up?"
WELL.. Sometimes when you're ordering in big quantities (for party or what), you might wanna order 1-2 hours in advanced to make sure the food will already be done by the time you reach the restaurant. Also, apart from paying on the spot, you can opt to pay online also.

How to order on Foodpanda

Order done on Foodpanda

Informing real boyfriend that food is coming lol! Real bf is busy working so #boyfriendDanny has to bring us food.

Ta-da! Whether you're ordering for a party, no car, stuck at home without keys (happened to me twice already =_=) or even if you're going for a pot-luck (seriously why didn't I think of this earlier), Foodpanda is a really convenient choice.

Thanks The Butterfly Project for the intro!

Strangers at 47 @ Seksyen 17

This little cafe popped up on the same row as Kanna Curry House, nearby SS2 Mall and Rothman. Service was impeccable and the staff are really polite. Coffee is good and I do like the bright colours they're served in.

They have a selection of savoury and sweet crepes as well as lots of cakes.

BBC
Wholemeal crepe, chicken chorizo, smoked chicken ham, butter sautéed mushroom & spinach, golden hash brown, sunny side up, caramelized onions and baked beans.
Price: RM 23

Portion was so big I could not finish it =( I enjoyed every bit of it though! The spinach was a nice touch because I don't always get greens in my big breakfasts.

Shore to Please
Savoury crepe, cajun tiger prawns, battered squid, spinach, caramelised onion, roasted cherry tomato, salted egg yolk.
Price: RM 21.50

This was a good one! However, it's so small I think I would need at least 2 plates to fill my tummy.

Adam's Sin
Actually I did not try this but dayum it looks good.

Green tea something something LOL my bad.. I did not record down details this time =x Apparently this cup varies from time to time..

Overall, lunch was pretty pricey =/ At least my food was a big plate but the crepes were pretty small. If I'm going back, I'll try the cakes~

And thanks to Elie for bringing this guy back from Bohol, Philippines! Everyone is playing with the tail, curling it here and there until it's permanently curled =/ A 'tail-perm', we call it.

And does anyone else have a friend like this who invades your leg space under the table and kick you regardless if you're seated beside, across or diagonally from them? LOL Hi Elie.

Nutella Banana Peanut Butter Rolls & Cretan Kaltsounia

Part 3 of my masak-masak with Philips is.. dessert!

Below are these super yummy banana + Nutella + peanut butter rolls. No oven needed =D

But first you gotta get this filo pastry. Make sure its refrigerated and kept moist with a cloth once you take it out or it'll be hard to separate. Melt some butter too.

Step 1: Spread the melted butter on one sheet of filo pastry
Step 2: Layer another filo pastry on top. Repeat until you get 3 layers
Step 3: Cut into squares

Cretan Kaltsounia

For this filling, mix 500g of ricotta or mizithra cheese with 2 eggs. Add in some honey or grated lemon if you like.

Place a tablespoon of cheese in the middle and swipe some melted butter on the edges.

Fold over to form a triangle. You can also boil some sugar and cinnamon to drizzle on the finish product. Sesame works too.

Banana Nutella Spring Rolls

This one is really simple. Banana + Nutella + peanut butter.

Anyhow rollll~~ Even your children can do this one but you gotta prepare the filo pastry because that is tricky.

Ta-da! Brush with some melted butter once done.

Preheat Philips Air Fryer at 180°C for 5 minutes. Arrange them in the frying basket and air-fry for 5 – 8 minutes or until golden brown.

While waiting, we decorated our plate with more Nutella trying to make it look like gourmet food xD

Ding! They're ready!

Place on a plate to serve. You can have the rolls with ice cream but we simply topped ours with MORE Nutella xD

And it was gooooood. The air fryer enhanced the sweetness of the banana and who doesn't love Nutella?

So I learnt that the Philips Air Fryer can be used to cook both savoury (Ayam Percik recipe) and sweet dishes =O In my household, we also use it for nuggets - so much healthier, cleaner and easier than deep frying. If you like these, you might wanna check out the Chicken Risotto I made as well~

Mega Alpha Sheep Placenta

I've tried several types of beauty drinks but this is the first time I tried a placenta one. I was expecting good things because the Mega Alpha Fish Collagen was uhmayzing!

Got this from HiShop~

Benefits

  • Reduce signs of skin aging or epidermal problems, such as fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, freckles, dull skin tone, dryness, sagging, eye bags and dark eye circles.
  • Enhances the development of the breasts, blood and hormones
  • Eliminates menstrual pain & regulates menstrual periods
  • Enhances the production of blood, treats anemia
  • Eliminates menopause problems (ages 45 to 65 )
  • Balances the hormones

Each bottle contains 30 capsules and you're supposed to take 1-3 a day. At RM 368 a bottle, it's far from affordable but doesn't matter if it's twice as effective as the fish collagen right?

I've doodled a little graph comparing both variants. Honestly, I did not see much result from the Sheep Placenta. It was slow to reveal aesthetic effects and did not reach the level of change I got from consuming the Fish Collagen.

However, I only took 1 per day and the recommended maximum dosage was 3. Perhaps the results will be better if I took 3 everyday for a few months? Even though it's slow, it's still better than some other beauty drinks out there which I suspect are only sugar water =x

At the moment, I would stick to the Fish Collagen and highly recommend you to try it! You can get cash vouchers upon signing up and get 15% rebate by using my code:

Ayam Percik Recipe - Easy Cooking with Philips Air Fryer

I made this. Kinda. xD

Ayam Percik recipe from Chef Zam. So so good! My mum even asked me for the recipe because Carlson loved it.

  • Cooking oil for sauté

For marinating the chicken (Ingredients B):

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 4 cloves of shallots     }
  • 1 clove of garlic          }
  • 1 inch ginger } blended
  • 1 lemongrass (serai) stalk }
  • ½ tbsp coriander powder
  • ½ tbsp cumin powder

Cooking Instructions

Step 1: Throw shallots, garlic, ginger and lemongrass into Philips blender with a bit of water (so it blends smoothly)

Step 2: Mix with coriander & cumin powder
Step 3: Marinate chicken for 20 minutes

Optional: Add turmeric powder to the marinate

Step 4: Using Philips Air Fryer, bake chicken for 10 minutes at 180°C. Make sure you heat it up earlier with the Double-Layer Tray.

Step 5: For the sauce, sauté blended ingredients with shrimp paste and chilli pepper until there is a fragrant smell. Stir evenly before adding water
Step 6: Add in santan and fenugreek, while stirring evenly
Step 7: Add in lemongrass
Step 8: Add salt and sugar for taste
Step 9: Sauté sauce for 20 – 30 minutes, or until thick.

Did I mention I'm afraid of using stoves because of the fire? lol.. So glad we were using a Philips induction cooker here xD

Step 10: Pour sauce over baked chicken (do this for 2-3 times) and bake for another 10-15 minutes, and it’s ready to serve.

Because the ayam percik is so flavourful, it is suitable to go with a more plain tasting rice. Get the Chicken Risotto recipe to go with it! =)

Delicious Chicken Risotto Recipe

May I present to you.. My favourite Chicken Risotto recipe! Seriously.. so so good.. I could have this everyday! And not hard to make at all. Believe me.. if I can do this, you can too =x

Ingredients

  • 2 cups arborio rice (or any 'soft' rice) *
  • 2 chicken thigh pieces (sliced)
  • 1.1 litre vegetable stock **
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 80g unsalted butter
  • 2 cups baby spinach leaves
  • Basil leaves (for garnishing)
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely crushed)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 700g Swiss brown mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 ½ tbsp cumin powder

* For a proper one you can use arborio rice but it's expensive so Chef Zam recommends a cheaper alternative with any kind of soft rice such as Flora brand.
** We used a cube

Philips Pressure Cooker

All the cooking is done using ONE pot - Philips Pressure Cooker. So convenient and less stuff to wash! Amazing..

Step 2: Add chopped garlic and cook for 20 seconds.
Step 3: Combine chopped onions and cumin powder. Allow to cook for a minute.

Step 4: Add and brown the chicken

Step 5: Add the mushrooms, then rice and water. 1 cup rice to 2 cups water. Stir well.

Step 6: Add vegetable stock and bring to boil.
Step 7: Close pressure cooker lid, bring it to pressure and cook on high pressure for 7 minutes.

Step 8: Remove from heat and release the pressure.
Step 9: Stir in remaining butter and parmesan cheese.

Step 10: Stir in basil leaves and baby spinach and it’s ready to serve.

Optional: Sprinkle on more cheese!

Confession - Elie & I forgot about our risotto =x Luckily, we were using the Philips pressure cooker so it turned out fine! If not it would have been charcoal black already. The dish smelt and tasted amazing! In Chef Zam's style - sedap gila!

Up next - Ayam Percik recipe!
