Products Finished In May & June

I totally skipped last month's post so cramming both here =_= Combining mini reviews for these products as well since I don't really like the idea of writing a super short review for each.

*Pics from BubblezShoppe

Because it melts easily, I find the price to be a bit pricey and that will probably prevent me from purchasing it. However, if the claims are true, it's worth it!

"Gently expells pimple or acne and cools the skin"
I didn't use this on my face but it was sudsy enough to use on my body. It didn't have a minty cool feeling as I expected but still quite nice to use even though it melts in the container (waste of soap!).

Another one of my whitening soaps xD This one doesn't feel special compared to the others. I only used it for about a week so can't comment on the whitening ability. Also melts.

Now.. This soap I like. It gives a white foamy lather, doesn't melt (winner!) and is smooth on skin. Reminds me of the V&M Royal Pearl Soap which I liked except V&M smelt better and was more milky than sudsy. Good chance I'll be repurchasing this!

Okay.. I gotta admit, I like this mainly because of the partially see through colour xD So cool! This soap is not bad too but I like the Arbutin one more.

This soap smells slightly fruity and has small black dots so you can use it to exfoliate as well ^_^ It lathers okay and melts.

Got a small tube of this from Nicole. It smells like ginger, lathers okay with water, is gentle on skin and you only need a small amount. Unfortunately, you can no longer get this in Malaysia =_=

8. Clean & Clear Deep Action Cleanser Sample
Er.. I'm definitely not feeling the oil-absorbing formula. It dries out my face a lil but it still gets oily fast. I like the fresh smell (especially after a long day or in the morning) and the fact that it lathers well. Don't think I'll be purchasing this..

9. Laneige Star White Skin Refiner Sample
This is an alcohol free toner that isn't drying and it smells goooooddd. I don't see any brightening effect so I'll rather use a hydrating lotion instead.

10. Laneige Star White Emulsion Sample
Just like the toner, I like the smell as well ^_^ I like using this above a thick layer of skin care cos it somehow makes it less sticky & shiny. IMO it's a light moisturizer and I need something heavier but I wouldn't mind using this in the day time.

11. Juju Aquamoist Moisturizing Cleansing Water
For a light makeup remover, this is okay.. I would very much like to try other cleansing waters first before deciding if I'm gonna repurchase this.

12. Clear Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
Actually I only used this less than 5 times. I think my brother was using it LOL It's not really foamy and leaves your scalp feeling cool. I read somewhere that using dandruff shampoo on your face can get rid of flaking skin so I tried it.. OMG! Super dried out my skin like crazy. Don't try this =_=

Coastal Scents African Black Soap

I've been curious about this ugly brown lump that looks like fruit cake since Alice posted it up. Like no way am I using that on my skin! I just can't imagine how soap could look like that. But in the end.. Curiousity got me and I bought a sample =_=

Tell me this doesn't look like fruit cake.. Lol

Product says : Coastal Scents black soap is the original thing! It is imported from Ghana where it is hand pressed and processed by women in a small village in Ghana. It contains no scents, preservatives OR chemicals.

For centuries, Ghanaians have used Black Soap to help relieve acne, oily skin, clear blemishes and various other skin issues. It is known to help with skin irritations and conditions such as Eczema and Psoriasis as well. African Black soap has also been used to achieve beautiful skin. Africans have also used this natural soap for bathing and washing their hair. It’s excellent for removing make-up too! Black Soap will leave your skin soft and clear.

Look at all the benefits of this soap! Unfortunately, my small sample was insufficient to test if they're true. However, I can say that it wasn't drying on my skin and smelt earthy. Even though it was a 10g sample, it melted really fast and turned super soft =/ By day 3, it was all  gummy and bendable even when dry.

"African black soap should not be exposed to excess water and stored in a cool dry place. African black soap is soft and has a very high content of natural glycerin. Because of its natural glycerin rich content it absorbs moisture from the air and becomes softer if not stored in a cool dry place or in a sealed polythene bags."

It lathers up okay and is just like any other soap. Even though there's like a lot of brown spots and whatever, it's not rough. In fact, it's really smooth and feels like just coloured soap.

Ingredients : Cocos nucifera(Coconut Oil),butyrospermum parkii,(Raw Shea butter), Cocoa Pod ash, Aqua(Water), Elaeis guineensis (Palm Kernel Oil)
Size : 100 g
Price : RM 70
Bought from : BubblezShoppe
Made in Ghana

Pros : Not drying
Cons : Melts easily, pricey

My conclusion : Because it melts easily, I find the price to be a bit pricey and that will probably prevent me from repurchasing it. However, if the claims are true, it's worth it!

MUFE Lab Shine Star Collection (S22)

I guess this brand requires no introduction. If you have not heard of it before, please drag your butt down to Sephora. The packaging is not fancy but I really like the whole professional look.

I normally prefer lip glosses with a doe foot applicator as it's easier to apply an even layer so I gotta be careful with this. S22 is a lovely shimmery light pink (check out the swatch!!).

Dry lips + lip lines =(

This gloss does hide my lip lines a little but I have glosses that do the job better. It's not sticky and feels like jelly on my lips. As I recall, it has a light pleasant smell as well. The colour doesn't really show up so it just makes my lips shiny. It doesn't dry out my lips but it's not moisturizing either.

If I apply a thick layer, the shimmer is more obvious but I would prefer a thinner layer for this.

Please ignore the eyes lol Was trying to follow someone's makeup. As you can see, the gloss looks pretty natural on the lips.

Product says : Lab Shine Star Collection is an ultra-shiny gloss containing iridescent Star Powder particles, to give lips a pearly finish. It combines a mirror-like formular, enriched with light-enhancing glass microspheres, with shiny interferential pearl pigments. The comfortable, non-sticky texture leaves the lips supple and moisturized.

Ingredients : Polybutene, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Methyl Hydrogenated Rosinate, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Tridecyl Trimellitate, C18-36 Acid Triglyceride, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ethylhexyl Hydrostearate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Calcium Aluminun Borosilicate, Calcium Sodium Borosilicate, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Mica, Parfum (Fragrance), Silica, Glass Beadsm Linalool, Bht, Tin Oxide, Polyglyceryl-3 Poltricinoleate, Butylene Glycol, Camelina Sativa Seed Oil, Geraniol, Citronellol, Hexylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Benzyl Benzoate, Propyl Gallate.

Size : 2.6 g / 0.09 oz
Made in France

Pros : Not sticky, light pleasant smell, not drying
Cons : Applicator, sheer colour

My conclusion : Without considering the price (which I don't know), this gloss is worth purchasing if you only want to give your lips a sheer colour with shine or if you plan to apply it above lipstick. For me, if I'm gonna apply anything on my lips other than lip balm, I want it to make a difference so I don't think I'll be purchasing this.

** Product is not mine. I just had it in my possession for a while.

My Beauty Diary Camellia Mask

If you thought the normal My Beauty Diary masks had pretty packaging, the premium ones look even better! This is the Camellia mask (upgraded sheet as well). When I tore open the plastic, I caught a floral smell but the actual mask smells of yeast.. Not a pleasant smell.. Bleh... Wonder if the new ones smell like that too?

The sheet is pretty much the same but I still feel the normal range ones I bought were better (maybe it's because these are older stock).

The mask is hydrating, leaving my skin so plump and brightened. It also smoothed my fine lines a little (not 100% sure it's caused by the mask). IMO, the difference between premium masks and the normal masks is that the effects of the premium masks last longer.

I'll also take this opportunity to post some super old photos of the Vanilla Souffle Mousse Scrub which we sampled at the pharmacy. First time seeing a scrub in mousse form. It's basically just looks like white foam. (That's not my hand btw lol)

You rub it all over your skin..

And soon it'll look like this. If the 'lumps' are black, your skin is really dirty =x

I have not tried this on my face but I think it looks pretty gentle..

Ingredients : Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Sorbitol, Betaine, Diphenyl Dimethicone, Triethylhexanoin, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Polyglyceryl-10 Mysristate, Carbomer, Disodium edta, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hydroxide, Propylparaben, Camellia Japonica Flower Extract, Camellia Japonica Seed Extract

Size : 30 g
Made in Taiwan

Pros : Hydrating, brightening
Cons : Smells bad (yeast)

My conclusion : The smell is a major turn off so I will not purchase this =(

** Product was a free gift with purchase. However, this has not affected my thoughts on the product in any way.

La Foret Heating Pumpkin Enzyme Peel Mask

I've always been curious about self heating masks as I've never tried them before. Apparently the heat opens the pores to allow pore cleansing, tightening and elimination of dead cells.

Product says : La Foret's Heating Pumpkin Enzyme Peel Mask delivers pumpkin's nourishing benefits into the skin. Gently exfoliates dead skin cells and helps correct cell damage. Leaves the skin detoxified and silky smooth. Nutrient-rich exfoliation.

When I squeezed this out of the packet, it feels drier and more solid that I expected. However, the moment it touched my face, it kinda 'melted' and there was a warm feeling that was quite nice actually xD For this mask, I think it's easier to apply using your fingers compared to using a brush. It smells sweet and the scent stuck to my hands and face for a few hours.

Er.. I guess an orange face isn't as bad as a green / blue face xD However, I still wouldn't leave the house looking like this =_=

I was about to wash it off, THEN I noticed that there's tiny exfoliating beads in this.. =_="

Idiot.. Why are you so blur?!

They're really tiny and gentle. When massaged, the orange mask turns into a more watery lighter yellow paste o_O And erm.. If anyone's curious, the yellow doesn't stain lol

The result? Soft, smooth skin, tightened pores, softened skin surface and slight brightening. I think this is good to use before extraction ^_^ It also didn't dry out my skin like some scrubs do.

I think there's about 1 and a half uses in one packet so a full sized jar should last about 12 uses =)

There is one thing I'm confused about.. Why is it called a peel mask? It's way too creamy to dry so what exactly am I supposed to peel? Or were they referring to pumpkin skin?
Ingredients : Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Zeolite, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Powder, Lactobacillus/Cucurbita Pepo Fruit Ferment Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Fragrance, Methylparaben, CI 19140, CI 15985

Size : 85 g / 2.99 oz
Sold at : La Foret
Made in Korea

Pros : Self warming, contains gentle exfoliating beads, tightens pores, softens skin (good prep for extraction), not drying
Cons : Not available locally yet

My conclusion : To tell the truth, I'm really interested in this product.. Guess I gotta wait for La Foret to arrive to check it out ^_^

Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle Fluid Foundation

It's been 2 weeks since I've laid my hands on this beauty. During the Lancome Review Party, we were each given a bottle of the Maqui Blanc Miracle Fluid Foundation to try out and review. Mine's in the shade of O-04 (there's 6 shades available).

This is Lancome's first 12 hour lasting brightening foundation and the shades & texture are designed for Asian skin. Awesome!! I've always had a problem with foundations that look great freshly applied then when I come home and look in the mirror, it's oily, patchy, streaky, oxidized and cakey. GAHHH! The horrors..

The bottle looks real pretty but I'm so afraid of dropping it x_X

One thing I watch out for with liquid foundations is the presence of a pump. I once wanted a certain foundation so much but didn't get it simply because it didn't have a pump =_= Pumps are more hygienic, less messy and it's easier to control the amount. IMO, the Maqui pumps out enough for a single area (one cheek, half a forehead etc) but I can choose to pump out less as well. So far, I haven't had any problems with the pump. It's smooth and doesn't get messy like some others.

This is just the foundation, brows & a touch of blusher. Love how it instantly brightens up my face (freshly applied, it's too fair but it adjusts a lil) and evens out my skin. The liquid itself is watery and spreads easily which is good since you're supposed to apply it with your fingers in a circular motion. For areas where you need higher coverage, dab it on. Maqui offers a light to medium coverage, which is awesome considering the fact that it feels so light until I don't even notice it there.

"Aura-Bright™ technology works to reproduce and boost the pinkish and bluish tones of skin’s inner light to reveal a naturally radiant and brightening finish"

After 4 hours, without blotting. Foundation doesn't seem to have changed. It doesn't oxidize as much as my other foundations. Sorry it looks kinda dull due to the different lighting =_=

"Maqui MIRACLE contains a specific complex of ingredients that resists sweat and humidity to keep the complexion looking fresh and radiant up to 12 hours. It has a lightweight, oil-free and mineral-rich formulation which provides wearer a light and airy sensation all day long and glides onto skin smoothly to create a perfect and pore-less finish."

Everything is right except for the pore-less finish. You can still see my pores (didn't use primer) but I don't think any liquid foundation has covered my pores before.

Love how this foundation makes my skin glow while looking natural ^_^
*Leaving this photo slightly larger so you can enlarge it

After 12 hours, my face has gotten oily (Maqui has quite good oil control) but with some blotting, the foundation still looks amazingly fresh and the brightening effect is still there. No caking, streaking or patchiness ^_^

"Maqui MIRACLE also features Lancôme’s NeuroWhite™ complex that enhances skin’s clarity every day; and SPF 26 PA++ UV protection that helps prevent the appearance of brown spots and protect skin from the damaging effects of daily UV exposure"

Apart from brightening my face, it also protects with SPF 26 PA++. Maybe it's psychological but ever since I started using this foundation, I feel that my face looks slightly brighter even without makeup o_O

I gotta say.. I'm loving this foundation ^_^ There's also a compact foundation so you can check it out if you're not into fluid foundations =)

Ingredients : Aqua/Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isononyl Isononanoate, Alcohol Denat, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Phenyl Trimethicone, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Glycerin, Titanium Dioxide, Bis-PEG/PPG-14/14 Dimethicone, Mentha Piperita Extract/Peppermint Leaf Extract, RNA, Zea Mays Extract/Corn Kernel Extract, Rosa Centifolia Extract/Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, Sorbitol, Saccharum Officinarum Extract/Sugar Cane Extract, Vaccinium Myrtillus Extract/Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Talc, Arginine, Silica, Pyridoxine HCl, Alumina, Aliminium Hydroxide, Phenylalanine, Magnesium Sulfate, Mannitol, Nylon-12, Tyrosine, Disodium Adenosine Triphosphate, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Acer Saccharinum Extract/Sugar Maple Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis Extract/Lemon Peel Extract, Maltitol, Distidine HCL, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Phenoxyethanol

Size : 30 ml
Price : RM 130
Made in Japan

Pros : Good pump, brightening effect, lightweight, spreads easily, light-medium coverage, doesn't oxidize as much, long lasting, natural looking, quite good oil control, remains fresh after a whole day
Cons : Price (you pay for what you get)

My conclusion : IMO, this is a really good foundation! Love the long lasting brightening effect =) If only there were more shades (darker ones) to choose from though =/

Rimmel Mono Eyeshadow (020 Tempted)

I don't buy eyeshadows anymore since my small collection doesn't seem to be getting the attention it deserves but this Rimmel mono eyeshadow was just too pretty.. I don't like the plastic cover though cos it gets scratched easily but hey.. Priced at just RM14.90, I can't complain.. The clear cap does makes it easy to see the shade ^_^ Love that it's small too. Without an applicator (which are usually quite useless), the packaging is not bulky at all.

So 'dai' leh.. 2 colours in one wor! *kiamsiap part of me is happy*

That was until.. I got the product from Yuberactive and took a closer look. The coloured part in the crown was just overspray!! =_= LOL Darn..

Should have suspected something cos the pink doesn't have a differently coloured crown =/

It already says MONO eyeshadow lah you dumdum
=_=

I still swatched the purple anyway *pouts* This eyeshadow is soft! Don't be too rough or you'll have powder flying. By itself, pigmentation is pretty weak but it's greatly improved with a primer/base. The colour wasn't quite like how I expected as it turned out to be a soft shimmery shade that looks kinda mystical instead of an in-your-face blue.

The moment I saw the swatch, I thought it was similar to the blue in my L.A. Colours Tease palette. Well, Rimmel is less pigmented, a softer blue, shimmery, easier to blend and looks creamier. The colour is similar but obviously not the same. I prefer Rimmel since I'm not into intense blues.

I'm showing you this ugly picture of my eye cos I think the shimmers look really pretty here lol See the sacrifice I make for you readers?! The lighter blue parts are applied with brush and blended out. I had to apply more on my lid using my finger to make the colour show. This eyeshadow is super easy to blend but it can be too sheer for some people.

With eyeliner & mascara. Surprisingly, I found this blue to be quite wearable =)

Added purple to it. Sorry if it looks odd. This is why I don't really wear eyeshadows (and why I should wear my contacts when I do my makeup =_=). The shimmer still peeps through from under the purple eyeshadow and I think it looks gorgeous!

Product says : Super soft blendable eyeshadow that lasts for up to 8 hours. Creamy pressed powder texture delivers bold colour with long lasting wear. Complimentary shades in convenient compact.

I saw some other reviews on this eyeshadow (other shades) and I don't really agree with the 'bold colour'. I think it's more subtle and I actually like it that way! There was some fallout as the eyeshadow doesn't really stick easily to my lid. Other than that, I don't think I have other complains. With this, I may actually wear blue eyeshadow out! Yayyy~~

Price : RM 14.90
Made in China

Pros : Small & slim packaging, soft shimmery shade (hence wearable), easy to blend
Cons : Plastic cap easily scratched, weak pigmentation (can be a pro)

My conclusion : I don't like wearing blue eyeshadow but I can see the possibility of me wearing this ^_^ It's good if you wanna wear shades you don't usually wear but don't have the guts.
