Solone Magic Waterproof Eyepencils

Woops.. I was supposed to put this review up some time back but didn't want to until I've sharpened it as someone commented that it cannot be sharpened and the eyeliner was only the small bit at the tip o_O Well, it can definitely be sharpened, alright.. And there's more eyeliner inside the pencil.

I got 2 of them, Purple and Black & Gold. They came with a free sharpener but I have not used it. Words are in Chinese, which I cannot read but if you can and want to, click on the picture to enlarge.

It's like a regular eyeliner; clear cap and coloured end. Cap doesn't come off easily so no worries about it making a mess in your bag.

These are very pigmented! The purple swatch looks slightly off here. It's not so bright in real life. The fine shimmer is beautiful and isn't gritty or rough on my eyes. There are no chunky glitters in this.

It's really easy to use and glides on smoothly. Can't really control the intensity with this as it's already so pigmented but you can go over the line to make it stronger.

I tested the waterproof-ness of this eyeliner by running it under water and rubbing hard with my finger. Sad to say, this isn't as waterproof as I would have wanted it to be =( Shimmer was gone and the 1 layer swatch (extreme right) was almost disappearing. It can be removed with cleansing water (oil makeup remover not needed unless it's a thick layer). Despite the pigmentation, this does not stain skin.

Once, I wore it out with the Maybelline Magnum Super Film Mascara and as I was removing the mascara (with water and slight rubbing), the eyeliner came off with it! And without much protest too =( I don't think this is that waterproof after all.. Unless their definition of waterproof eyeliner is 'doesn't fade when you dip your head in a tub of water', which doesn't satisfy me. Freshly swatched liner will survive light rubbing but not after a few hours of wear.

Remove the 'magic waterproof' claim and you actually have a decent pencil eyeliner. For long lasting liners, I would still will opt for cream or gel liners but as far as pencil eyeliners go, this is considered okay. It did fade a little but no smudges. Something I don't like about shimmery/glittery eyeliners is having fallout but nothing of that sort happened with this.

So far, I only see 2 local sellers. I'm eye-ing 06 Indigo Sapphire Blue which looks lovely at shoppiehouse (however, it looks less appealing on Anna's page as 01 Indigo Blue). Shoppiehouse doesn't have brown and her prices are higher than Anna. I find it odd that the swatches and codes are different on both their pages o_O I have only purchased from Anna before and her service is okay. She answers your questions and there was no delay. Her price of RM 18 is also cheaper than shoppiehouse which is RM 22 or RM 23.

Ingredients : Carnauba Wax, Microcrystalline Wax, Z-Ethyl Hexyl Palmitate, Castor Oil, Glycerine, Tri-Capryl Caprate, Pigment
Size : 1.5 g
Price : RM 18-23
Sellers : Anna and shoppiehouse
Made in Taiwan

Pros : Very pigmented, smooth application, no chunky glitters, does not stain skin, barely/doesn't smudge, little fading
Cons : Not as waterproof as it claims, not easily available
My conclusion : Not very waterproof but I like it for it's unique colour. Worth repurchasing and I'm interested to get the other colours ^_^
For waterproof eyeliner, I'll probably choose the Silkygirl Funky Eyelights Pencils instead.

  2. I like your review!! :) Especially because this particular one came from Taiwan. I don't think it's readily accessible in the US, but it's good to know that they have various eyeliners i can check out :D

  4. Oh I've seen it around on the forum but it's slightly pricier at RM25 and only available in normal black & brown =( Apparently they have other colours as well but they're not the super waterproof formula.
