Mentholatum Lip Ice Lip Balm (Apple)

This is my first lip balm and I have just finished it this month. My sis picked it for me as she was using it as well. I always carry it around in my bag, use it before lipstick/ lip gloss and even on its own. I wouldn't say it's very moisturizing but it helps a little. There is a slight scent (apples?). It's clear and uncoloured which makes it great for using under lip colours.

All in all, I find nothing special about this lip balm that makes it stand out among the numerous other lip balms. There's no taste, no weird film on lips afterwards and the texture is not too soft so it doesn't melt easily when I bring it out. I also like that it's not sticky.

Product says : Lip balm. Sunscreen. Protectant. Cooling, refreshing relief for dry, chapped lips. Apply as needed.
Size : 3.5 g
Price : RM 1x
Bought from : Pharmacies
Pros : No weird taste, not sticky, no film feeling on lips, smells okay, not too soft, doesn't melt easily when hot, spf 15
Cons : Not moisturizing enough
My conclusion : Will not repurchase. It's definitely not moisturizing enough for my very dry lips.

My Beauty Diary Chocolate Mask

Sorry about all the mask posts.. I haven't been touching much makeup lately and these were less time consuming to write. I first read about this chocolate mask from Anna's blog. The packaging looks so cute and I've been so curious about it. Then I got a pair of these from sweet Nicole. She must have read my mind! The mask is supposed to be for firming, moisturizing and brightening.

The picture on the packaging is actually chocolates (so cute laahhh). The moment I tore open the top, this sudden wave of chocolate fudge scent blasted me in my face. I literally shouted 'Omg!' and proceeded to sniff it again and again. It smells THAT good. I can't believe a mask can actually taste that yummy! If the mask was brown in colour like chocolate, I think I'll be tempted to lick it.

It has enough slits to adjust it sufficiently to cover my face and not leave any extras in my hair or jutting out. However, I do think that the mouth hole could have been higher and there was a tendency to 'bubble' at the nose region. For the entire duration of having the mask on, I smelt chocolate fudge all the way. Needless to say, it was a pleasant experience =) There was only a tiny bit of extra essence left in the packet so reuse is not possible. Btw, like my ear studs? Ice cream ^_^ Too bad they broke! =(

I left it on for 30 minutes (packet recommended 20-30) so it kinda dried all the way and patting was not needed lol It wasn't sticky or feel gooey at all. Even after the mask is dry, I could still smell that delicious scent lingering around the sheet. Sorry for my panda eyes. Staying up late to study is not good.

'After' photo was slightly darker but they're both taken at the same place, half an hour apart. Not much difference except my face was slightly brighter (compare the cheeks). It didn't feel particularly more moisturized or anything.

My Beauty Diary masks can be purchased from LowYat.net for RM 2.50 to RM 3.50 but please read the comments first to see if there are any negative feedbacks as there are many fake masks nowadays. Please DO NOT buy them from the night market >_< Guardian's is selling a box of 10 for RM 50. Even though it's twice the price, you can be confident that it's authentic.

Price : RM 2.50 - RM 5 per sheet
Seller : Search HERE or at Guardian's
Pros : Slightly brightening, smells very good, cheap, good fit
Cons : Not really moisturizing
My conclusion : Even though it doesn't do what it says, I will definitely repurchase this just because it smells so yummy! xD Since this was manufactured nearly 2 years ago, a fresh one might work better.

Sunsilk Silky Smooth & Manageable Hair Recovery Treatment

Finding hair products that can make my hair look more tamed has been a lifetime battle (lol exaggerated). Since I was younger, I've always been mesmerized by the Sunsilk advertisements. Then there was this thing about a group of professionals making different ranges just for different types of hair. The one that I needed was the pink one, created by Yuko Yamashita.

Quote from Sunsilk website :
Yuko Hair Straightening was created in Japan in 1996 by Yuko Yamashita, a hair stylist, salon owner, and entrepreneur who wanted to make people's lives easier when it came to hair care. As a young Japanese stylist, Yuko met countless women who were unhappy with their hair. The most common complaint was unruly hair that had to be constantly styled every morning and the mere suggestion of rain would make it frizzy and uncontrollable. Yuko wanted her customers including many celebrities to have beautiful, straight and healthy hair without spending hours getting it that way, so she created Yuko Hair Straightening, which has been taking the world by storm for over 10 years.
Before this, I have been using Loreal hair treatments but I decided to give it a try since it was cheaper. I was surprised that it actually worked quite well. The product came in a jar which I don't quite like since my finger nails are long and much of the product collects underneath.

It's white, creamy, feels oily and slippery and smells nice. It's not too watery so it stays on my hair but not too thick as well so it's easy to spread. After leaving it on, my hair is noticeably silkier and softer. I actually don't mind using this in place of my usual Loreal treatment.

Oh yeah, if you buy the I Feel or female magazines, you'll get 2 sample sachets of the shampoo and conditioner along with a 'test comb' to see if your hair is tangled.

Size : 200 ml
Price : RM 1x (sorry it was a while back >.<)
Bought from : Pharmacies
Made in Thailand

Pros : Cheap, works (average), it's PINK!, doesn't make my scalp overly oily
Cons : Tub form, not strong enough for damaged hair
My conclusion : Not bad for a cheap hair treatment (Loreal is more expensive but works better). I have long hair so I tend to use more and this doesn't burn a hole in my pocket =)

So I'm in the middle of my exams right now but I still had time off for some fun (well, maybe a little too much lol)

First up, bridal makeup by Nicole. No, I'm not getting married anytime soon. This is purely for fun / practise. You're probably sick of my camwhore photos already so I'll just post 2.

Then the Bf and I went to In House @ Solaris Dutamas for dinner. They serve Arab food and shisha there. I ordered a Shish Tahook (I think) which is chicken chunks and briyani rice. Yum yum! I could only finish half of it though. This was RM 22 and well worth it.

Look at their furry shisha pipes! The normal shisha is RM 15 while the Super Shisha is RM 20. I don't smoke shisha but it smells good~

If you're interested in getting some Elf eye products, there's a 50% off promo right now! $1 items are only RM 3.30. You have until 6 pm today (that's like only an hour >.<). Click HERE. I have my eyes on some items but I don't know if I should spend anymore =(

Hada Labo workshop! RM 20 per person or RM 30 for a pair so grab a partner and sign up! Click HERE for more details.

If you want a FREE hair makeover and appear in a magazine, you can try your luck by submitting your details to CLEO Malaysia.

My Lip Stuff (Mixed Mystery)

I'll keep this post short since I'm supposed to be studying real hard. I was in a lip balm phase once and purchased this. I think they kinda made this themselves or something so the packaging doesn't look as pretty (low cost) but it's okay.. There are over 500 flavours and I've heard of many absolutely crazy ones like Monkey Farts or Dog Poop lol I don't know if I want to know how they taste like.

Mine is in Mixed Mystery. Sincerely, I don't really know how to describe this. It's a really sweet smell (but not sickening) and perhaps it smells like rainbows lol It also tastes good (sweet) and the smell + taste lasts for hours! (Obviously only if it's still on my lips)

My lips have been acting up again so I have to use lip balm whenever I can.
I don't really see this as a lip balm. It's more of a lip treatment or something lol I slather on a thick layer (just by patting it on as it's really soft) and leave it there when I'm home. I would never wear this beneath lipstick or lip gloss as it feels heavy, sticky and oily enough. I don't think my lipstick can even glide on top of it. I have also used this for my DIY Lip Gloss.

You can buy their products from HERE. When I got mine, I turned the entire thing up to see how much was there inside and I was surprised that the entire tube was filled with lip balm! However, because of it's soft texture, I scraped some off the side while turning it down.

Product says : The finest natural butters & oils blended to create the ultimate lip moisturiser for kissably soft lips.
Ingredients : Sunflower Oil, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Aloe Vera, Essential &/Or Flavour Oil
Size : 0.15 oz
Price : RM 10 or less (sorry can't really remember)
Bought from : lowyat.net

Pros : Moisturizing, smells and tastes good, cheap, a lot of product
Cons : Unsuitable for beneath lipstick, sticky, not available locally, soft
My conclusion : I might repurchase if I don't find a good lip balm locally. There's not many sellers for My Lip Stuff here. However, it would still maintain only as a 'lip treatment', not to be used with other lip products.

Aqualabel Workshop & Haul

* Today's photos will all be from my phone as my sister is having the camera T_T I also didn't have any photos of the event as the rest were whipping out DSLRs (so embarrassing lol)

I was lucky enough to be able to attend this workshop as there were only 30 seats and I was only able to go because someone sold her ticket. Thanks to Nicole for telling me about this opportunity. Because of her, I went to my very first workshop today ^_^ I met many wonderful people and learnt some new things. It was a good experience.

Anyway, I don't remember the exact events of the day but we were given some Aqualabel products to try on the spot (moisturizing line). We tried the Creamy Oil Cleansing, Moisture Lotion, Moist Essence GG, Moist Essence HA, Moist Essence CL, Moist Charge Mask & Aqua Enhancer. (I can't recall if we used the Moisture Emulsion) Wow.. That was a lot of moisturizing for my face. After each step, my face felt fresh and it wasn't heavy at all. And most of the products smelt really good too! The emcee / trainer showed us slides, explained the products & their uses and guided us through the process. There was also a skincare guide which shows all the products, their uses, prices etc and you can get them from Watson's.

Goodie bag! ^_^! 1 full sized Moisture Lotion S (S is for oily, R for dry), sample sized Moisture Emulsion R, Aqua Enhancer MO & Milky Mousse Foam.

After our faces were moisturized, we got to use Majolica Majorca makeup! I must say, their eyelash curler is really good! Price was pretty steep at RM 70 though lol I used the Lash Bone Mascara Base (made my lashes curl very well and it stayed curled until I removed it), Lash Gorgeous Wing (trainer said it was volume but I find it more of lengthening), Cheek Customize & Rouge Majex (it's a lipgloss that hydrates your lips and my lips weren't all dried out from it). They also had 2 other mascaras, some auto eyebrow pencils and the lip glosses.

Look at my lashes! So long and curled~~ I like MM mascaras because they're soft and not crunchy. Sorry my lashes are flying here and there. I'm not used to comb mascaras (the base).

Here's my FOTD using the makeup they provided. Darn panda eyes! Blusher not visible here but it actually lasted quite a while. Lipgloss was also completely gone =/ After 6 hours, my face was not as oily as usual. Just a slight shine.

We were also given a piece of paper to figure out our skin type.
  1. My skin is smooth without pimples, blemishes and blackheads. (A)
  2. After I have applied foundation, my face tends to be flaky and parched. (B)
  3. No tight feelings on my face after cleansing. (C)
  4. My T-Zone area is shiny all the time. (D)
  5. My skin feels soft and supple everyday. (A)
  6. I have more pigments and freckles than my peers. (B)
  7. When I wake up in the morning, my face is greasy chine all over. (C)
  8. My skin tone is uneven, especially on the nose, cheek, forehead and chin. (D)
  9. I do not put extra care on my skin, but it glows and looks luminous too. (A)
  10. I found some tiny dehydrated lines. (B)
  11. I have visible pores. (C)
  12. Blackheads and clogged pores can be found easily on my nose and chin. (D)
  13. My makeup / foundation holds well for the entire day. (A)
  14. My complexion looks dull and lifeless. (B)
  15. After half a day, I feel the greasiness on my face. (C)
  16. I require separate treatment on my T-zone and cheek. (D)
Count the number of As, Bs, Cs and Ds.
A - Normal skin
B - Dry skin
C - Oily skin
D - Combination (sorry, not too sure about this too >_<)

I was oily (4 points) but somehow also dry (3 points)  lol

Then Nicole, Sexy Mama and I dropped by Watson's & Daiso @ Curve/Ikano so I grabbed a few more stuff =x That's it.. I've failed my shopping ban T_T~

Pink driving gloves from Daiso, RM 5
Deary Mask (Rose Co-Q10), RM 5.90
Watson's brightening facial mask, RM 15.90 PWP with above RM 20 (Ori RM 24.50)

Actually I just bought the Deary mask to add on to sexy mama's purchase to get the PWP lol Nicole informed me that it's from the same company as My Beauty Diary.

Photos below from Nicole's camera :

MM makeup!
Emcee/ Trainer of the day

'Tofu test' : 1 Tofu is soaked in water while the other in Aqualabel. The water tofu was hard and dry while the Aqualabel tofu was soft, moist and bouncy.

Group photo
Nicole & I
The Bf and I went to Centrepoint for dinner last night and we ate at this place called Black Canyon. Yum yum! The first time we went there, I ordered number 23 (pasta with tuna) & Blueberry Delight (this was so tasty like Sugus!) then last night I had Udon with Prawn Tom Yam & Strawberry Delight. The udon noodle was really good & chewey but the soup was way too spicy for me T_T

DIY Yogurt & Orange Juice Mask

Lol Since I had leftover orange juice (from HERE), I decided to mix it with yogurt to make another DIY mask. Don't waste the ingredients~ I couldn't do the same mask again cos it'll be too harsh. Chose yogurt because my skin was still dehydrated from the previous mask (omg~). I have been patting Hada Labo like crazy lol

Anyway, the mixture just looks a bit like orange flavoured yogurt, with real orange bits inside haha..

Again, it's very watery so I can only apply a thin layer. It was also dripping down my face a lot =( Avoid applying 1 cm above brows and lips to allow space for it to drip or apply very thin layers.

Benefits of Orange Juice :
  • Fights wrinkles and fine lines
  • Shrinks enlarged pores
  • Reduces acne
  • Gives a glowing complexion
Benefits of Yogurt :
  • Lactic acid softens and smoothens skin
  • Antibacterial
  • Cleanses and exfoliates skin
  • Reduces wrinkles
  • Moisturizes
  • Soothes sunburn
Pros :
- Will not taste bad even if you accidentally lick it (imagine orange yogurt)
- Ingredients easily available
- Skin is moisturized, soft and smooth

Cons :
- Watery and drips
- Yogurt smells like old milk after a while (you may not find it pleasant)
My conclusion : I'm not sure if the orange juice made a difference but the yogurt definitely did! As I have mentioned, my face was extremely dehydrated and even Hada Labo couldn't help it 100% but this mask made my face plump and hydrated again ^^ And as usual, it's so soft and smooth. I'm beginning to love yogurt masks.

Btw, I have received tips on how to make my Baking soda + orange juice mask work better so hopefully it'll turn out better next time

Guardian's Mask Haul

Looks like I've failed my October Shopping Ban completely lol Went to have lunch with my friends on Tuesday and while waiting for them to come, I walked across to Guardian's to 'have a look'. They were having sales and their Guardian's brand masks were RM 6.88 for two. They only had 2 flavours though.. So I got one of each. Chamomile is for delicate skin while green tea is for whitening.

Then I saw an entire stand just for Montagne Jeunesse masks! I saw someone using their choco mask online and I've been so curious about them ever since. However, to my disappointment, there was no choco flavour there.. =( Well anyway I bought three other flavours. They were RM 5.90 each.

I was wearing makeup even though it was just a very casual lunch. I'm using a new facial wash which requires me to wear sunscreen and because it's sticky, I had to set it with foundation then I looked pale so blusher was needed. Then I couldn't just stop there and went ahead with a wash of brown eyeshadow and a pat of lipstick >_< Now, that just sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?

DIY Orange Juice & Baking Soda Mask

So since Nicole was liking her DIY mask so much, I decided to try it out, but minus the aloe vera. Baking soda is supposed to get rid of blackheads so of course I want to try it too!

I used 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed orange juice and half a teaspoon of baking soda. I think half of that would have been more than enough though. I still had pretty much left. Upon touching the orange juice, the baking soda should immediately fizzle and bubble a little. This is absolutely normal and the bubbles are carbon dioxide gas. This is what causes your dough to rise.

Begin with a clean face (sorry my face was already a bit oily). Upclose photos of my bad skin : big pores, black heads & pimples >_<

Luckily I applied this in the bathroom as it was dripping all over the place =_= I hope the mask is working on my nose? Lol Nicole had showed me some pages and there was a warning that it may be itchy and oh my! It sure is itchy! >_< The author of the page recommended distracting yourself from the itch by doing stuff. So here I am, typing away while I try my best not to scratch. It feels like an insect is biting my chin and there are ants with many tiny legs walking across my right cheek! =/

I only left it on for 10 minutes as this is the first time I'm using this mask and I'm not sure if my skin will react negatively. When it's dry, it feels like the egg white mask. It's dry and tight.

After washing off, it was a breeze cleaning the pores on my nose using my new tool.

Pros :
- Blackheads were still there but a tiny portion came out with the tool
- Pores were much smaller now (for a few hours)
- Skin was extremely smooth and soft
- No redness or broken capillaries
- Shine was gone. Face is less oily few hours later.

Cons :
- Unfortunately, it dried out my skin really bad. Perhaps I should use less baking soda next time or mix it with aloe vera like Nicole.
- Wrinkles on forehead were enhanced because skin was dehydrated
- Skin feels tight like I had been using body soap on my face
- No effect on pimples at all

Tips :
  • Squeeze your own orange juice. Don't use bottled ones, no matter how fresh they claim to be.
  • Half an orange is enough to last you about 5 applications. Don't waste the orange! Eat the other half.
  • Be careful not to splash the orange juice into the bottle of baking soda. It will react with it and ruin the whole bottle.
  • Apply in bathroom as it drips.
  • If you want it thicker, you can also mix in yogurt (the really thick kind) or oatmeal or anything dry.
My conclusion : This combination is unsuitable for my skin but I have heard other people having success with it. Even though it's supposed to be good for pimples and blackheads, I did not notice anything. My pimples were still there and blackheads were as stubborn as always. There may be results if used continuously but it's so drying, I'm not sure if I want to do it again. Perhaps I'll try adding other stuff to it.

P.S. I must stress that the results above are merely my own skin's reaction. I do not know if you will react the same way but feel free to try it! ^^

P.P.S. I will not be posting for a while or less frequently as I'm in the middle of my finals right now =(

Shills Face Treatment Essence (Blue Herbal Toner) Mask

Some of you may have heard of Shills before. I was in a Shills craze at one point because their items are so affordable. But after that I stopped purchasing as there are a lot of fakes nowadays. I saw Jean using this toner as a mask so I decided to try it out.

I poured some clean boiled water into a plastic container. I used way too much here. Added 10 drops of Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acis Moisturizing Lotion. I wonder if 10 drops would make any difference lol Then poured in the Shills Blue Herbal Toner. It's slightly blue now.

Then I dropped the compressed mask into the liquid. I'm using Skinlite brand but you can buy these online for 30 cents each (Skinlite was RM 9.99 for 15 pieces). I think Daiso sells them too. Look at how it expands! It takes only a few seconds. Then I had to open it up and truly soak it in the liquid (since I had so much left lol)

On my face. This mask is cloth like and very very soft so you can just adjust it to fit your face. The toner really feels herbal. There's a very cool minty feeling. This mask would be great on hot days when your face needs an immediate cooldown.

After removing it, I washed the remaining liquid on my face and it felt so cool! It was like I had rubbed a Mentos all over my face lol It was a nice cooling relief as it has been crazy hot for the past few weeks/ months.

I noticed that blood was rushing to my face as my cheeks were blushing (doesn't show in photo) and my overall complexion was a little reddish. Nothing too major this time, just that my nose is like Rudolph. The first time I used this mask, I left it on for too long and my face remained red for a while (about an hour). I'm not sure if this is good =/ But as long as it doesn't cause breakouts on me, I'm fine with it. There was a certain bounciness and softness in my face but nothing else. I wasn't expecting anything in the first place. I just like the minty feel =) From the photos, shine has reduced but the red spots have been aggravated

The toner has a slight smell that I can't describe but it's soft, nothing floral or overwhelming. When I smelt it, the first thing that came into my mind was 'paper'. Which doesn't make sense cos papers don't smell like anything >_< I guess it reminds me of those DIY Recycled Paper methods but then again, I don't really remember how that smells like =/

Anyway, back to the toner. I don't have the ingredients list or anything as I bought this bottle from someone and it didn't come with a box =_= I don't even remember the price but it's cheap!

Oh ya, if you're wondering why I look so tired/ odd/ different today, it's because I didn't have my lenses on! The power of coloured contacts! Lol *I cheated & enlarged them a tiny bit in the Before photo. Hahaha Couldn't tahan seeing my eyes like that.

Tips
1. For my mask, I would need about 3 tablespoons of liquid.
2. Mix all your liquids before putting in the mask.
3. I would prefer not to leave it on for longer than 15 minutes as it makes my face red.
